The 10 Most Valuable MTG Cards from The List, September 2023 – #6 Greymond, Avacyn’s Stalwart

While not technically on The List but does take a spot in The List slot in Wilds of Eldraine Set Boosters is Greymond, Avacyn’s Stalwart who is part of the Universes Within subset. Universes Within is a series of cards that offer in-Magic iterations of the unique Secret Lair cards, something we have seen with various Stranger Things and Street Fighter cards that now have flavorful in-Magic variants for players to collect.

Secret Lair: The Walking Dead was the first ever collaboration that introduced never-before-seen Magic cards through incorporating a Walking Dead skin on these cards, which caught plenty of negativity when announced in 2020. With Wizards of the Coast listening to the feedback of its consumers, a compromise was made to include these unique cards in Standard Set Boosters with some in-Magic flavor for good measure. In particular, Rick, Steadfast Leader was not only the best card from this Walking Dead Secret Lair, but also one of the most valuable due to applications for Human-focused Commanders and in Legacy.

Now with the release of Wilds of Eldraine, players can open Greymond, Avacyn’s Stalwart who is the in-Magic variant of Rick, Steadfast Leader in Set Boosters. And while many of these Universes Within cards aren’t usually worth anything, Greymond and Gisa’s Favorite Shovel are an exception to this rule.
