A rather obnoxious card if left unchecked, Bloodchief Ascension returns in Commander Masters with a striking Borderless printing that is seeing healthy sales. Once the Enchantment has the required quest counters though opponents losing life, it can generate incredible life swings through the opponent simply casing spells and those spells hitting the graveyard. Similarly, Bloodchief Ascension also works fantastically well in any Mill strategy that utilizes Altar of the Brood, Mindcrank, or Mesmeric Orb. While the Enchantment will make you a target at the table the second you cast it (and this is especially true in the early turns), it’s a powerful and now affordable card for any Black-focused Commander strategy.
