The 10 Most Valuable MTG Secret Lair Cards, August 2023 . #5 Sliver Hive (Extended Art)

Slivers is one of the more-adored creature types in Magic: The Gathering. They’re iconic thanks to lore reasons and offer powerful yet synergistic effects when on the battlefield. Cropping up as bonus cards in the more recent Secret Lairs, there’s a range of Sliver cards coming as Extended Frame Foil variants — this is a first for Slivers because these treatments didn’t exist when Silvers were supported in Magic expansions at the time. Despite these bonus cards being reprints, many of the Sliver cards are extremely valuable due to their popularity in Commander.

In particular, the printing of Sliver Hive from this series is by far and away the most valuable Sliver card you can open as a bonus card from these Secret Lairs. A staple for any Sliver strategy, Sliver Hive helps you cast those mana-intensive Sliver spells with the upside of creating a Silver token if you don’t need to tap the card for mana. While there are only fifty-one of these Extended Frame Foil Sliver cards available at the time of writing, you can be sure there will be more coming and will continue to remain valuable cards from the Secret Lair series. While this copy of Sliver Hive has always remained valuable, it notched up further in price due to it’s surprising omission from the Sliver Swarm Commander Precon, where even normal printings of Sliver Hive rose in value as many want the card as an excellent upgrade for the deck.
