10 Budget Hidden Gems You Should Be Playing in Commander – 03 Feast of Succession
January 29, 2025Sweepers are a crucial part of Commander where White often has the best answers in Wrath of God and the recently printed Sunfall from March of the Machine. However, Black can accommodate with board wipes such as the iconic Damnation and Toxic Deluge, but these options can be somewhat expensive to a budget-minded player. Languish is an excellent option if you want something reasonably costed while also remaining kind on the wallet, but Feast of Succession from Commander Legends is another to consider.
Admittedly six mana is a lot, but the Sorcery does come with the very powerful Monarch ability, which is an excellent mechanic for multiplayer games. It’s ideal with Commanders such as Queen Marchesa if you are leaning heavily into the Monarch theme or playing a Pillow Fort-style strategy where no one can take the Monarch away from you. Either way, Feast of Succession is one to consider, especially if you play a bunch of high-toughess creatures that can circumvent the -4/-4 or expect plenty of Hexproof or Indestructive at the table.
